For those of you who don’t know, about a month ago my Twitter account was suspended without notice or reason for nearly a week, as were many other Conservatives on Twitter. (In fact, many of my friends still are suspended, and more are added to the #TwitterGulag every day.) Not long after that, the person behind the attacks actually called my place of work to file a harassment complaint against me, threaten to sue the company for information about me, and basically try to smear me and get me fired.
When all of this was taking place, I was also in the middle of some serious car troubles. At the time I had two vehicles. Both of them decided to give out on me on the same day. Two days before the phone call to my office.
Needless to say, “stressed” was an understated way of describing my emotional state.
I’m not one to hide behind a false identity. My “About Me” page pretty much tells you all you need to know about me to find me, and I’m not scared of putting that out there because I know that G-d is in control of my life and whatever happens in this world is relatively meaningless once we reach Heaven anyway. But for my family’s sake, I would like to stick around a while. And getting called into the HR office to discuss some woman calling to complain about something I did on my own personal time, well… that got to me a little bit. It made me realize that these people we’re dealing with are serious about pushing their agenda and will do whatever it takes to get you to shut up if you disagree with them… much less if you engage them and prove their arguments invalid.
I thought for a while that this was a relatively new thing for the Left, at least here in America. Today, I learned that it wasn’t… and that it could have been much worse.
I won’t rehash what’s already been written by Liberty Chick and many others about Brett Kimberlin. I’ll simply repost the link to Liberty Chick’s Breitbart.com article and let you read from there. When all of this happened to me, one of my friends on Twitter got me in contact with Aaron Worthing, one of the victims of these attacks (although at the time I didn’t realize his experiences came from this incident). That’s when I realized this wasn’t some isolated thing, it was calculated and targeted against specific people.
Looking back on all of this now, I realize that this all stemmed from the original attacks by Kimberlin. The Left (or as I prefer to call them, the “Party of Down”) will use any tactic necessary, including “SWATting” people as happened to @Patterico:
These attacks are for one purpose: to shut out the Conservative voices who are trying to reach people with the truth. They are intimidation tactics, and now are progressing up to the level of life and death. This is not going to get better before it gets considerably worse.
I realize that I, like the rest of you, have a choice. I can sit on the sidelines and hope to remain under the radar, or I can join the many other Conservatives who are rising up to stand against these tactics and speak out about them. I choose to stand and fight.
We Are Breitbart… and We Are Not Going Away.
